The Asset Alliance Group Motorsport UK Scottish Rally Championship are delighted to announce their new charity partner in 2024.
Maggie’s Cancer Care charity is also close to the heart of Championship sponsor Asset Alliance Group. Grant Law, Group Marketing Director stated:
“As championship sponsor, we were delighted to hear of this link up with Maggie’s. We have coincidentally also developed a close relationship with Maggie’s in recent years as they are the most wonderful organisation doing such fantastic work across the UK. Initially founded in Edinburgh, today Maggie’s has 8 of its 27 centres across Scotland. Cancer is something that unfortunately touches us all in our lives and charities such as Maggie’s play such an important role in supporting families through these most difficult periods. For the SRC to recognise charitable support and adopt Maggie’s this year is a great credit to this championship”.
Maggie’s know that when you’re diagnosed with cancer you need much more than just medical treatment. You might want information about how treatment will affect you; emotional support and practical advice; a place to go where you can meet and talk to people who are going through the same things. Maggie’s are there for anyone with cancer and their family and friends, whatever kind of cancer, and whatever stage they’re at. All their support is free, and no appointment or referral is needed.
Maggie’s workshops, courses, one-to-one and group support help people to change the way they live with cancer. They focus on the things that really make a difference, like money worries, help with stress and depression, managing side-effects and relationship and family support.
Every Maggie’s is thoughtfully designed to be calming, homely and welcoming; a place to escape from the clinical environment of the hospital. There are no reception desks and no clocks; instead, they have comfy sofas and plenty of time.
The urgency and scale of cancer support needed in the UK has never been greater. There are almost 3 million people in the UK living with cancer, which is set to rise to 4 million by 2030. One in two people are likely to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, and many will experience long term conditions that impact their lives physically and psychologically.
We are hoping to have Maggie’s fundraisers present at some of our events this year, but in the meantime if anyone wishes to support the charity, below is a list of their 2024 Fundraising Events. The big event for 2024 is their 10th Birthday Ball, held on Saturday 1st June in the Radstone Hotel, Larkhall with tickets now available at £100 per person or £1000 for a table of 10.
Ticket price includes drinks on arrival, a delicious 3 course meal, live entertainment, and a few other exciting surprises. The evening will be hosted by our fabulous friend of Maggie’s, Mr Edward Reid.
Further details of our partnership will be announced in due course.
