For motorsport fans there are few more recognisable brands than Gulf. The iconic blue and orange design has appeared on so many famous cars: from the Ford GT40s of the 1960s to modern GT racers and many in-between.
Having conquered the world of motor racing for decades Gulf have now expanded into the world of rallying with a 102 octane fuel already available and plans well underway for a 98 octane pump fuel to be available by May of 2022.
The 102 Octane fuel has already produced results. Teaming up with Hyundai Poland, Gulf fuelled cars won 4 out of 6 rounds of the Polish Rally Championship in 2021. Closer to home Gulf have joined forces with world rallying juggernaut M-Sport. All new M-Sport Rally 2 cars come pre-loaded with an engine map for Gulf’s 102 Octane. Matthew Wilson proved how potent that combination can be with a win on the 2021 Grampian in the Gulf liveried Fiesta.
For Scotland they have joined forces with former Scottish Champion and engine mapping guru Andrew Gallacher to provide and distribute the fuel on all KNC Groundworks SRC rounds in 2022. Always aware of the need to improve safety standards Gulf’s own Mark Gardner was in attendance at the 2021 Galloway Hills and had an extensive discussion with environmental scrutineer Peter Clingan about ways to make the refuelling zones a safer place for crews on events.
Championship sponsor Kevin Crawford switched to Gulf for his Mitsubishi Evo 9 midway through the 21 season. Not only has he found it to be more affordable he’s been very impressed with how well the car runs on it without any need to remap the engine, a sentiment that has been shared by ladies front runner and fellow Gulf user Aileen Forrest.
