The management committee of the Motorsport UK Scottish Rally Championship are delighted to announce that Alford based company KNC Groundworks will continue into a 4th year of headline sponsorship of the Championship in 2022.
The SRC has seen company owner Kevin Crawford develop from a rallying newcomer to a regular top 20 contender over the past 5 years and it’s great that someone so new to the sport is willing to put money forward to support the championship. Kevin is hopeful of a return to some form of normality after a challenging and difficult couple of years.
“KNC Groundworks are pleased to be able to continue to support the running of the championship and the events in what we hope will be a full season of competition for the first time since 2019.
As a competitor in the championship I can appreciate at first hand the work and dedication that goes into the running of the events and the championship, all undertaken by volunteers. We are very fortunate to be able to offer financial assistance to underpin and enhance the product and the experience. Competition is always fierce but just as important is the friendship and camaraderie that is a great feature of the championship”.
In addition to KNC Groundworks, a number of other sponsors have all agreed to return or join us in 2022.
- Royal Aero, the German based international aviation trading and service provider owned and founded by Calum MacLeod will continue their sponsorship of the live feeds from all events. Calum has regularly made the trip over from Germany himself to compete in the SRC, normally piloting his fantastic Super 2500 MG ZR, one of the most recognisible cars out on the stages.
- Albyn Garage, Aberdeen will once again sponsor the highly competitive and popular Challengers series. As a former Challengers front runner himself, garage proprieter Simon Hay is delighted to be continuing his support in 2022. Simon very happy that a 2wd driver took the challengers title in 2021, as he says: “it shows that anyone can win it”.
- Having supported the championship in general terms for the last 4 years Moates Offshore is stepping up to sponsor the Junior Championship for drivers and co-drivers born on or after January 1st 1997. Subaru Cup contender Mike Moates is very aware of the need to encourage young competitors in motorsport. 2021 saw Moates Offshore support a local 15 year old karter to a top 5 finish in the British Junior Kart Championship and he’s keen to help out the next generation of the SRC.
- Richard & Peter Stewart burst back on to the scene in 2021 with their exciting new 208 R4s. The 1200cc turbocharged front wheel drive cars proved to be impressively quick straight out the box. Along with the new cars they also launched their new business venture Autoshop. New for 2022, Autoshop will be supporting the 2 Wheel Drive Championship. The Stewarts’ are no strangers to helping the SRC having previously sponsored the Subaru Cup with their UsedCarParts.co.uk business.
