Local Company to Back Award Winning Motorsport Event

McDonald & Munro Ltd, one of the largest Electrical contractors in Moray, have been announced as title sponsor for the Speyside Stages Rally, which is one of the biggest annual sporting events in the local area. The partnership confirms the Elgin based company’s commitment to local sports & organisations in a deal which will run for 3 years as the company builds on its previous sponsorship of a single stage of the event.

The McDonald & Munro Speyside Stages is round 5 of the 2013 ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship, a series which features the best rally events throughout Scotland and is the highest profile motorsport series in Scotland, including coverage on BBC2 Scotland.

The news comes as a major boost to the organising 63 Car Club (Elgin) and comes following the announcement that the 2012 event, backed by Gleaner Oil & Gas, was awarded the coveted Chairmans Cup for the best organised event in the Championship, an award which the event has now won 6 times in its 16 year history.

McDonald & Munro Managing Director, Graham Morrison is proud to be involved with such a successful  local event, “We are delighted to become title sponsor of this exciting event, and we are looking forward to working with the 63 Car Club over the coming months as we look towards August, and the first McDonald & Munro Speyside Stages.”

“Having been involved in the event over the past number of years we moved quickly once we learned that there was an opportunity to become title sponsor of the event. It gives us a good opportunity to get our staff, clients & guests involved in the event and we hope this is the start of a long partnership.”

Neil Shanks, Clerk of the Course for the event is equally happy to welcome the new sponsor, “We are delighted to welcome McDonald & Munro as title sponsor, and is encouraging to see someone who has been involved with the event for a number of years increasing their involvement, which is a real endorsement for the club and the way we run the event.”

McDonald & Munro Ltd was established in 1974 now employs over 20 electricians and 6 apprentices, one of whom has been nominated for Scottish Apprentice of the Year.

As well as providing electrical services throughout Scotland, the company has recently diversified into the renewables and technology sectors including heat pumps air and ground sources and IT and fibre optic cabling. Continuous investment in staff development and training ensures the company is well-equipped to accommodate and service these specialist sectors.

The 2013 McDonald & Munro Speyside Stages takes place on Saturday 3rd August, with the pre event scrutineering & documentation checks on Friday 2nd. The event is based at Elgin Town Hall and will feature a number of timed special stages in the Morayshire and Speyside forests.
